No shirt, No shoes, No service baby! ~rant

Posted by SugareesSweets on Wednesday, September 23, 2009, In : Rants and Raves

Well, not a rant really. More of a… WHAT AN IDIOT, post.  *lol*

“Burger King has apologized to a St. Louis area woman who was told to leave a restaurant because her 6-month-old daughter wasn't wearing shoes.

A spokeswoman for the restaurant chain said Wednesday that workers at the Sunset Hills Burger King took the "no shoes, no shirt, no service" policy too far.

Jennifer Frederich went to the restaurant Sunday along with her mother and Jennifer's 6-month-old daughter, Kaylin. Workers tol...

9m old giant baby, it's a(nother) boy, shower yada

Posted by SugareesSweets on Monday, September 21, 2009, In : Family

For anyone who might me wondering, I'm feeling quite a bit better than the last time I posted. I've had a few "baby" breaks and it’s done me good. I'm still a little down but not nearly as much as before and that’s really only because I have still yet to get some things I really want to done.

So, Gabriel had his 9 month check up today...boy was that an experience! He absolutely HATES being laid on the exam table naked and same goes for the baby scale. He cried the whole time! By the time w...

mommy blues

Posted by SugareesSweets on Tuesday, September 15, 2009, In : Family

I have been going through a bout of the mommy blues as of late. Family knows that I’ve had it a few times since Gabriel’s birth but it usually quickly diminishes. This most recent round seems rather difficult and I’m really struggling to move past it. I suppose it’s a lot to do with the baby getting older and more independent and at the same time more needy as well. His naps are few and far between and only minutes when they do come. I’m hoping to get a little advice on his sleeping...

Everyday Blessings 9-10-2009

Posted by SugareesSweets on Thursday, September 10, 2009, In : Everyday Blessings
I have this adorable little book that I keep in my purse. Its titled Everyday Blessings and its written by Max Lucado. There is a specific page for every day of the year and on each day it has a bible verse and an inspirational thought written by the author that reflects that verse. I find it very refreshing to pull out my little book every day when I'm feeling especially stressed or down and it seems to always help.

I found today's quote especially inspiring and I wanted to share.

My new pretty

I got the biggest surprise upon Jason's return home on Saturday! This new gorgeous 2010 Honda CRV!
We had been talking about really NEEDING to buy a new car. As much as I love "The Silver Bullet" (what we call my silver Volvo) it’s already 9 yrs old with transmission troubles that were any day going to be an emergency repair situation.
As I went out for lunch and errands with my mom, he met his mom to do lun...

Not much time for posting after updating the look around here but I wanted to give a big hug & THANK YOU to Jenn for my new blog banner. I love it girl. I may be able to do all kinds of different styles of art but blends, minipulations and banners were always alien to me. So...yay! Its my own personal banner and I love it!

First Practice/Last Physical Therapy!

Posted by SugareesSweets on Wednesday, September 2, 2009, In : Family
Yayyyyy! I'm so excited to say that Gabriel is finally free and clear and discharged from his physical therapy! Yesterday was his last session with Mrs. Nanette and though we'll miss her we know that not seeing her means our baby is normal and healthy.
I guess only family reading this would know what I'm talking about so I suppose I could explain.
Our Gabriel was born with Congenital Torticollis (shortened or tightened neck and back muscles) which went undiagnosed by his regular pediatrician un...

Little Debber

Posted by SugareesSweets on Friday, August 28, 2009, In : Art and Crafts

This week has been a nightmare for me and any personal time. (Grumpy spoiled baby...might be my next blog post)
I did however finish one of the pixel gifts I had been working on. Its for Debbercakes...a "Little Debber" version of her whuddle. (just like the sweet snack cakes)
Hope you like it Deb. She is a small doll but I figured you already had a big whuddle.
As you can see I used one of your outfit choices given but I mixed up the hairstyle a bit. I liked this sty...

Mmmmm...cupcake. *drools*  But this one is not for eating! I just had to post a photo of the newest addition to my unique jewelry collection. Sooooooo sweet isn't it? I just had to have it! This little sweety is even chocolate scented.

I've recently been getting back into trying my hand at polymer clay charm making. It really takes determination to create something like this. It has made me truely appreciate and be inspired by the talented girls who...

Ni Hao ChynaKitten!

Posted by SugareesSweets on Friday, August 21, 2009, In : Art and Crafts

I have FINALLY allowed myself to start a few personal pixels after months and months...
This is one of 3 gifts I've been trying to complete within the little computer time I've had lately. For my dear sweet ChynaCat. Her alter ego as a wee kitten. Its a pretty simple little doll but after editting the base I just could not turn her away. I may go back and animate her goldfish balloon when I have another few extra minutes.

So here ya go girl! Hope you like it at least a little (I know your feel...

Schools in Session...can I get a woot woot!

Posted by SugareesSweets on Wednesday, August 19, 2009, In : Family
The boys (finally) started back to school today...Halleluyah! Not that I don't adore spending the summer with them but after 3 months together I think they need more of a break from each other. As the arguements and wrestling matches increased in frequency as the summer drew closer to its end I could tell it (school) was a much needed reprive from each other's company. Hee hee.
I'll be happy to finally get a moments quiet...well when the baby is napping that is.

Animal Cruelty 2nd Chance: Rant

Posted by SugareesSweets on Sunday, August 16, 2009, In : Rants and Raves
You didn't think I was going to have a blog and not get out a little ranting and raving every now and then did you?
I'm usually a pretty laid back individual by most accounts but I do get a little unnerved by certain things sometimes. I'll warn you beforehand in the header incase its one of those occasions by catogorizing the post as such...that way you can skip it if you so choose.

Michael Vick...this is the individual who has me fuming right now and the NFL too to be honest.

"Pirate" Matchbox

Posted by SugareesSweets on Friday, August 14, 2009, In : Art and Crafts
Last night while Jason was on the computer playing poker (he does not play with real money) I made this simple matchbox scene for Peyton to display in his Pirates of the Caribbean themed room.

The Front

The Back

Inside

This simpler box was made mostly using leftover scrapbook stickers. Polymer clay for the sand, acrylic paint inside the box, crafting jewels for the sides outsides. The outside of the box (excluding the pirate ship and map stickers on the front cover) was wrapped in a piece of a me...

Apple a Day

Posted by SugareesSweets on Wednesday, August 12, 2009, In : Random Ramblings
Its been a rough couple of days. Gabriel's sleep situation took a turn for the worse Sunday night when he woke up off and on constantly throughout the night. I finally had to put him in the bed with me around 4:30am just so Jason could get his last couple of hours crying free. Same with Monday night...him in our bed at 4:00am
Last night was even worse him waking up constantly almost every hour for no reason. Twice I gave him a bottle but refused a third time and finally put him our bed again a...

Feed Me Seymour!

Posted by SugareesSweets on Friday, August 7, 2009, In : Family

*giggles* When I snapped these photos of Gabriel the first thing that popped into my head was the tune "Feed Me Seymour" from the movie Little Shop of Horrors where the giant Venus Fly Trap was singing.
We found a new favorite food. Vanilla custard with bananas. I think its sweetness must have been the culprit. LOL.

Update on sleeping arrangements: Halleluyah! He is finally used to the crib! He only wakes a couple times a night now and I can lull him back to sleep by sticking his passie in and...

Mmmm...sushi

Posted by SugareesSweets on Tuesday, August 4, 2009, In : Art and Crafts
I haven't had the time or desire to be on the computer for the last few days. *sighs* The other night while everyone was occupido (except moi) I got a wild hair to get out my polymer clay and make some more sushi charms. Bare in mind its been over a yr since I've created any of these little fellas so I am a bit rusty. I plan on brushing up a little more with some practice pieces and then making myself a brand new sushi charm braclett and some matching Cali roll earrings to replace my missing ...

Lots of damage in Olive Branch!

Cars and 18 wheelers even tossed around like toys!

Thursday late afternoon we had at least 2 tornados touch down in Memphis and surrounding areas. Our local Kohls store was destroyed, Shogun took major damage as well as lots other buisnesses around Wolfchase area. 50 homes damaged right around where we used to live near Rockcreek.
Olive Branch got hit the worst with 100+ homes damaged and at least 10 of completed demolished.
We had no damage to our area only minor ...

No rest for the weary...

Posted by SugareeSweets on Friday, July 31, 2009, In : Family
An update on Gabriel's sleeping situation:
This post is mostly for my family who have been listening to me complain all week.

So you know since our return from vacation we have been trying to wean him into his crib. Before vaca he was still in our room/ bassinet (even though he had quite grown out of it). He learned how to roll over to his belly and hold his head up WAY high so we knew it was time to finally put him in his big baby bed (much to my mommy dismay). All the while out of town he sl...
